Stroke Signs Can’t Wait. Learn to B.E.F.A.S.T.

Recognize a stroke. Call 911. Seconds can save a life.

A stroke can happen anytime, to anyone. Knowing the signs—and acting fast—can make all the difference.

Use the B.E.F.A.S.T. acronym to remember the warning signs:

  • B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination

  • E – Eyes: Sudden blurred or double vision

  • F – Face: One side of the face droops or feels numb

  • A – Arms: One arm feels weak or numb, or drifts downward

  • S – Speech: Slurred, confused, or hard-to-understand speech

  • T – Time: Call 911 right away. Don’t wait.

If you notice any of these signs, don’t delay—call 911 immediately. Getting help fast can save a life or prevent long-term disability.
