Originally founded at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2012 as a NIH/NINDS grant funded project, the first iteration of the Florida Stroke Registry focused on the reduction of health disparities in stroke care across Florida. On July 1, 2017, the Florida Stroke Registry was recognized in Florida legislation [Section 395.30381, Florida Statutes] establishing that all Florida stroke centers should participate in the Florida Stroke Registry. Today, in result of state legislation and the support of the Florida Department of Health, the FSR proudly contributes to the State of Florida’s success as a national leader in quality stroke care. With support from the Florida Department of Health, and as a proud awardee of the CDC Paul Coverdell Stroke Award, the Florida Stroke Registry looks forward to continuing work and advancing the mission of identifying innovative ways to improve stroke care in Florida.
