AHA to community: Don’t delay stroke care!

The American Heart Association (AHA) wants patients to know that even though many cities have ordered residents to avoid leaving their homes in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, people experiencing symptoms of stroke (e.g. facial drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech) should NOT delay calling 911 and seeking treatment. Waiting for symptoms to get worse can cause the stroke to become even more dangerous.

Bottom line: EMS and hospital staff need patients to call 911 as soon as potential stroke symptoms appear. Don’t wait!
